The WS Society
The WS Society is a membership organisation and service provider for information, research, professional development, events and networking for today’s lawyers and law firms. It is Scotland’s independent association for lawyers and, with over 400 years of history, one of the oldest professional bodies in the world.
Membership of the Society is open to both Scottish and overseas lawyers. The WS is attracting a new generation of up and coming lawyers, continuing and evolving the Society’s tradition of representing the best. Membership has been widened to allow both newly qualified and trainee solicitors to join more senior lawyers.
The Signet Library in Parliament Square, Edinburgh, is the Society’s home. The building, next door to the Supreme Courts, is one of the Scotland’s iconic legal buildings, an architectural treasure and an historic setting for the Society’s business.
One of the Society’s initiatives is The Signet Accreditation, a revolutionary new way of accrediting lawyers at a crucial stage in their career. Accreditation is based on rigorous assessment on practical issues important to success in the legal business.
The Society employs an executive team to run its business, headed by Chief Executive, Robert Pirrie. |
