Traineeships
As a trainee with the firm that is "undoubtedly Scotland’s leading private client practice" (Legal 500), you will have the opportunity to work closely with specialised teams in a challenging and highly rewarding environment.
Our trainees have a role to play in the future of Turcan Connell, so naturally we want to recruit the best and develop their talent. During your traineeship with Turcan Connell you will be assigned a mentor who will provide important support and guidance during this time. You will be given responsibility, client contact and ownership of your own workload from the outset. Although this means that we will expect you to work hard and rise to the challenges that come your way, we do also expect that you’ll want to join in with some of our social activities. There are plenty of opportunities to do so with Christmas parties, summer barbecues, annual birthday parties, football, rugby and golf to name but a few.
We recruit between 9 and 12 trainees each year. The firm advises in Tax and Trust, Land and Property, Charities, Employment Law, Family Law, Litigation and Asset Management and trainees will be given the opportunity to work within these areas, moving every six months.
Throughout your traineeship there is an ongoing training programme covering all areas of private client practice, as well as the management and technological skills you will need to develop and maintain. As well as formal training, coaching and "on the job" skills development are provided.
We believe that learning is a constant and two-way process which requires feedback and communication. The partner responsible for the area in which you are working will meet with you every three months and discuss with you the key skills you are learning and give you the opportunity to raise anything you wish to discuss. We also encourage our trainees to give feedback on their experiences, as you can often give us a different perspective and can help us to improve our processes.
If you wish to apply for a Traineeship for 2010 then download an application from our website, complete it and return it to us. Please note the closing deadline for Traineeships 2010 is 29th September 2008.
