Kenny Richey, who was released from Death Row after twenty years in custody has been fully committed to custody in Edinburgh today.
He appeared in Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with an incident reported to the police in July.
Richey, who was returned to Scotland from death row in a complicated negotiated agreement, has been charged with assault to severe injury. A long campaign ahead of Richey's return cast doubt on his involvement in the crime for which he was convicted in North America.
Richey has had difficulties adjusting to freedom in Scotland, and his movements have been extensively scrutinised and heavily reported by elements of the tabloid press.
He appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court before Sheriff James Farrell. No plea or declaration was made on his behalf.
