
Police are appealing for information following the theft of a racer wheelchair, taken from a wheelchair athlete during a training session in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
The chair owner was approached by three young men who appeared friendly and started to talk to him, showing an interest in his racer wheelchair, the Police said in a statement. In the process of transferring himself into his other everyday wheelchair, the boys then offered to put his racer wheelchair into the car for him; it is beleived the chair may have been taken when the 41 year old racer owner left to complete a cool down routine.
The missing wheelchair has three wheels and is custom made with the logo 'Bromakin' on the side. It is gold coloured with carbon fibre wheels which are black and gold in colour.
"The victim is very upset at the loss of this wheelchair. It had been custom made for him and one that he relies on for his training," the statement advised.
