HBJ Gateley Wareing are hosting a seminar on how to manage a redundancy situation as a result of the downturn in the mortgage market.
"With employment lawyers and legal helplines reporting a sharp rise in businesses seeking advice on how to make staff redundant, there has never been a greater need for employers to be aware of the relevant legal framework," the Firm said in a statement.
The seminar will cover the circumstances in which redundancy arises, the steps that need to be taken to operate a fair redundancy dismissal procedure, and practical advice to avoid unfair dismissal claims.
Robert King, an employment partner with HBJ Gateley Wareing said that employers planning redundancies should be on ‘red alert’ of falling foul of employment law.
"Dismissing employees for a sound financial reason will not be enough to avoid legal claims and under UK employment law, employers must also show that they have acted reasonably and followed a proper process.”
The seminar will take place on 24 September.
