Kenneth Robb has been appointed to be a sheriff for the Sheriffdom of South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway, and will sit in the Sheriff Courts of Stranraer and Kirkcudbright.

The appointment was announced today (Monday) by the Scottish Government, after Robb was appointed by the Judicial Appointments Board.

Mr Robb, is a 53 year old solicitor, and will take up his duties at the end of June. He graduated from Edinburgh University and was admitted as a solicitor in 1978. A partner in Marshall Wilson, Solicitors in Falkirk, from 1987 until 2000, latterly he has held a number of judicial offices, most notably as part-time immigration judge and part-time chairman of the Employment Tribunal (Scotland). He was appointed a part-time sheriff in July 2006.

His appointment fills the vacancy that arose when Sheriff Smith retired on December 31, 2007.
