McGrigors is promoting three senior associates, in the form of Rosalie Mackay, Martin Ewan and David Anderson, to the partnership of the firm.

Corporate finance lawyer Mackay has a broad range of corporate and corporate finance experience including domestic and international corporate finance, public takeovers, initial and secondary public offerings, private acquisitions and disposals and joint ventures. A substantial part of her practice is of a cross-border nature and she has acted for CanArgo Energy Corporation in connection with four private placings on the American and Oslo stock exchanges raising in excess of $60million. She also advised Antrim Energy Inc in connection with its AIM admission and four subsequent fundraisings on AIM and the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Ewan specialises in advising oil services companies in corporate matters including M&A and restructurings as well as strategic and contractual commercial matters. 

Earlier this year, he completed the acquisition of Gaffney Cline & Associates (an international advisory firm focused on providing integrated technical and managerial services to all sectors of the oil and gas industry) for Baker Hughes Limited and the disposal of another large technology-focused company to Halliburton.


Anderson specialises in assisting clients with disputes relating to indirect taxes and duties such as hydrocarbon oil duty, excise duty, aggregates levy and insurance premium tax, aside from the more commonly occurring litigation on VAT and Customs duties. He has advised and represented clients on an extremely wide variety of issues within these tax areas including appearing as advocate.

The promotions come into effect from 1 October 2008.
