The Firm has learned that convicted killer Michael Ross, who was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow this morning (Friday) for the murder of a waiter on Orkney in 1994, escaped out of the courtroom, reaching the public hallways, before being apprehended by on duty police officers.

Ross had leapt athletically straight out of the dock upon being convicted, where he had been flanked by custodial officers provided by Reliance.  It has now been reported that Ross made for the Clerk of Court's exit, rather than the Court's public door, which as a matter of practice is guarded from within during Court sittings by a police officer. Ross then made it through to the Court foyer before being captured and returned to custody.  It is not known if a police officer was stationed within the Court at the time of the escape. 

Lord Hardie, who was presiding, was reported to have been greatly angered by the events, but has made no statement or comment.
